Digital Moderation

Our consultant approach is based on cooperation and teamwork. In workshops we elaborate together with our customers the conceptual elements of the modification program. These workshops are designed as a clever combination of traditional and digital moderation.

The digital moderation developed by the Fraunhofer Association, displays conventional moderation tools in a software environment. Each participant receives a tool (e.g. a notebook) for entering his or her contributions. These are entered via a keyboard and are projected anonymously onto a screen. After the workshop a result protocol in chronological order and with all questions and its pertinent contributions will be available without any delay.

Advantages of the Digital Moderation at a Glance:

  • predefined workshop schedule
  • time saving through parallel data entry
  • integration of up to 500 workshop participants
  • more contributions (higher amount) and by this more good ideas
  • no problems in reading different handwriting
  • integration of employees right from the start
  • true statements by anonymous contributions, no followers and no peer pressure
  • concerned colleagues become participating colleagues
  • increasing satisfaction among the employees
  • better realization of the change by committed colleagues
  • best state of research and further development with the help of the Fraunhofer Association

Why We Use Digital and Traditional Moderation in Combination:

The traditional moderation is capable of promoting the communication among the workshop participants in a refined way (its strengths lies in structuring and channelizing) but it lacks in the fields of anonymity, administration and visualization:

Critical Area: Visualization

Everybody who has already participated in workshops knows how annoying illegible handwritings can be. The other participants cannot enhance illegible contributions. If the proposals cannot be deciphered while typewriting them, they will get lost irretrievably which would be too bad if it was a really good idea.

Critical Area: Anonymity

Not only are few workshop participants afraid of handing in specially creative and nonstandard contributions, because they could run the risk of encountering a lack of understanding. But actually, the unconventional ideas are the ones that can hold the potential for true innovations.

Critical Area: Administration

Traditional workshops leave walls and black boards full of ideas and proposals. In order to develop them further, pictures have to be taken and later on the contributions have to be typewritten. If this process is not executed properly, valuable workshop results will get lost.
